New US Consul General arrives

Nina Maria Fite assumed charge as the US Consul General in Lahore on September 20, 2011, succeeding Carmela Conroy.


Prior to her arrival in Lahore, Fite completed a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy at the National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces in June 2011.

A career member of the Foreign Service, she spent more than 20 years focusing on trade, environmental issues, and post-conflict economic development.
Her assignments have included serving as the Deputy Economic Counselor in Kabul, Afghanistan and as the Political/Economic Section Chief in Angola.

While on assignment with the US Trade Representative’s Office, she negotiated the environmental chapters of the Dominican accession to the Central American-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement and the US Panamanian Free Trade Agreement.

She has worked on environmental issues abroad in Hungary and in the State Department’s Bureau of Oceans, Environment and Science.  She has also served in Lisbon, Portugal and Kingston, Jamaica.

Fite received a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie-Mellon University and holds a Master’s degree in International Management from Thunderbird – The American Graduate School of International Management.  She speaks Portuguese, French, Hungarian and Spanish. PRESS RELEASE
