The Military Lands and Cantonments Department has rolled out two major reforms across 44 cantonment boards in Pakistan — the launch of Health Policy 2025 and an Internal Audit Framework.
According to sources, the new health policy was formally approved yesterday by Secretary Defence Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Ali.
The policy aims to provide uniform healthcare facilities across all cantonment boards. According to the DG Military Lands, the initiative will improve grassroots healthcare, grant administrative powers to medical staff, expand the use of modern infrastructure and technology and ensure recruitment and training of skilled medical professionals. Community participation and trust-building are also part of the policy. The defence secretary termed Health Policy 2025 a revolutionary step in public healthcare.
Meanwhile, the Internal Audit Framework was also introduced to ensure transparency and accountability. Approved by the Secretary Defence, the system will enable timely corrective measures, prevent irregularities and strengthen financial discipline. The secretary said that both reforms would enhance institutional transparency and trust, bringing lasting improvements in healthcare delivery and governance.
