KOTRI:

A professor of Liaquat University of Medical Sciences (LUMS) has accused a district council member of the Sindh United Party and his brother of illegally occupying her allotted bungalow in the university's staff colony.

The bungalow in the colony had been officially allotted to Professor Dr Salma Memon. However, it was allegedly occupied by Shah Nawaz Barfat, a district council member of the Sindh United Party, along with his brother Irshad Barfat. When police and security staff attempted to enforce the professor's allotment, Nawaz reportedly misbehaved with the officers, threatened them with "serious consequences," and resisted eviction. He was taken into custody but released shortly afterward.

Dr Memon and other faculty members claimed that the accused had also taken control of four other houses in the colony. The LUMS Teachers' Association condemned the incident, demanding that all illegal occupations be ended immediately.
