Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain has emphasised that Pakistan-Hunan Chamber of Commerce should facilitate the relocation of China's textile industry to Punjab and the government will provide land in Special Economic Zones as well as offer every possible facility to Chinese companies.
A delegation of Pakistan-Hunan Chamber of Commerce met with the minister for industries at the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) House. The meeting focused on investment opportunities for Chinese companies in the province.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Shafay Hussain said that a cooperation and partnership agreement exists between Pakistan-Hunan Chamber and the Department of Industries and Commerce. As a result of the agreement's implementation, Chinese companies are coming to invest in Punjab.
"Relocation of Chinese industry to Punjab will create local employment opportunities and lead to technology transfer from China," he said.
The industries minister highlighted that there were vast opportunities for Chinese companies that could invest in sectors such as electric vehicles, pet food, agriculture, tourism, livestock and others.
He pointed out that Pakistan currently does not have a single EV charging assembly plant, making this an ideal time to establish such a plant in Punjab. He urged Hunan Chamber to inform Chinese firms about the prospects of setting up EV charging assembly plants in the province.
Shafay Hussain stated that investments by Chinese companies in Punjab were strengthening economic relations between Pakistan and China.
