
In a targeted intelligence operation, local police killed a senior commander of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Wanda Panjma, District Lakki Marwat.
According to officials, the high-value terrorist was identified as Sher Aslam, reportedly a central figure in the TTP with origins in Kachi Kamar. Police said Sher Aslam was located and killed during a covert operation carried out by Lakki Marwat police. His body had reportedly been buried in secret, but security forces later recovered the remains and took them into custody.
DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan condemned those who take up arms against the state, saying such people will not escape the reach of the law. "These elements are not only enemies of the country and its people but are a deadly poison to the region's peace. The police and security forces will eliminate all enemies of the state," he said.
Inspector General of Police Zulfqar Hameed praised Bannu Region police for the successful operation and commended the team involved in the encounter.
This development follows a continuing security campaign by provincial police and other security agencies against banned militant groups operating in the region.
