With Battlefield 6 just a month away from launch, new details have emerged about its highly anticipated battle royale mode. Following the success of titles like Fortnite and Warzone, it’s no surprise EA is stepping into the genre—and it’s aiming to stand out.
According to a September 10 update from the Battlefield Labs community program, the mode will feature what developers are calling “the deadliest ring in BR.” Unlike traditional shrinking zones, this one will instantly kill players on contact, pushing teams into constant movement and conflict. Destructible environments will play a major role too, with destruction integrated throughout the map.
The battle royale will take place on a massive, varied map with numerous points of interest. Players will find transport vehicles scattered around to help navigate the terrain, while armored vehicles can be unlocked during matches for more strategic depth.
Matches will include 25 squads of four players, totaling 100 participants. While Battlefield 2042 experimented with 128-player lobbies, Battlefield 6 appears to be scaling back, at least for now. EA notes this setup is part of the current test, so it may change before release.
Additional features include squad-based respawn tools, static class selection (no mid-match changes), lootable weapons, and mission-based objectives that earn XP and rewards.
Although these details come from the test phase and may shift before launch, fans won’t have to wait long. Battlefield 6 officially releases on October 10, 2025.
