Three months after the upheaval in her life, Belly is living in Paris, juggling two odd jobs while completing her final semester online.
She shares a house with French roommates, and during Thanksgiving, she is seen making stuffing in the kitchen.
A later FaceTime hints her roommates aren’t fond of her, though Belly dismisses it. When Taylor asks about her Christmas plans, Belly admits she isn’t ready to go home, hasn’t found what she came for, and invites Taylor to visit for New Year. She also confesses feeling homesick, showing the toll of her distance from home.
Back home, Jeremiah struggles after being kicked out of Steven and Taylor’s apartment and moving to Denise’s couch. His father cuts him off after learning he’s been couch-surfing all along.
Laurel calls Conrad to confirm Christmas dinner and he asks if he should contact Belly. She advises it’s a risk he must take, so Conrad writes her a heartfelt letter, imagining her life in Paris, sipping café au lait, enjoying pastries, and wondering about winters in the city. Belly receives the letter, touched.
During Christmas Eve, the family gathers. Steven and Conrad resolve some tension, while Jeremiah stays in his car, telling Laurel he isn’t ready to face memories of Belly and Conrad.
In Paris, Belly closes the bar Christmas evening and dances until Benito arrives. After a game of darts, she ultimately goes with him.
By New Year, Taylor arrives, and as they decorate for the party, Belly talks to Jeremiah, who explains he didn’t want to be afraid to call her. Benito arrives with a parcel from Conrad, prompting Taylor to ask Belly about lingering feelings. As the countdown begins, Belly kisses Benito, later shown with him in her room.
Belly reflects on Benito’s affection while talking with Gemma, who offers her place to Belly. She also receives a supportive call from her mother on Susannah’s fifth death anniversary.
Back home, Jeremiah and Conrad reconcile at the cemetery, and Conrad later writes Belly about their visit. Meanwhile, she sends a postcard to Conrad from her new apartment where she thanks him for sending Junior Mint.
The episode ends with Belly settling into her new life and preparing for the summer, leaving the future open for both her and Conrad.
