Emmy-winning Modern Family star and Kansas City native Eric Stonestreet is officially married. The actor shared the happy news on Instagram on Tuesday, September 9, which also happened to be his 54th birthday. “It’s my birthday, and guess what I got?” he wrote, alongside photos from the ceremony.
Stonestreet and Lindsay Schweitzer, a pediatric nurse, first met in 2016 at a Big Slick Charity Event for Children’s Mercy Hospital. The couple got engaged in 2021, with Stonestreet posting playful photos of the proposal. Over the years, Schweitzer has often been by his side at red carpet events and family milestones.
While promoting his upcoming role in Dexter: Resurrection earlier this year, Stonestreet mentioned that wedding plans were moving along and shared that they were building a new home together in Kansas City. He emphasized how important it was for him to remain rooted in his hometown despite his Hollywood career.
In past interviews, Stonestreet has described Schweitzer as his grounding force, praising her sense of humor and support. Their relationship has been celebrated by fans for its longevity and warmth, a rarity in the entertainment industry.
Stonestreet, best known for his role as Cameron Tucker on Modern Family, is also a graduate of Piper High School and Kansas State University. Now settled back in Kansas City with Schweitzer, he continues to balance his acting career with the personal life he has built at home.
The wedding marks a joyful new chapter for the actor, who said in an earlier interview, “I got lucky. Lindsay’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
