While details on Cyberpunk 2 remain scarce, fans of Cyberpunk 2077 can take comfort in knowing that the game’s most iconic star is eager to return. Speaking to IGN during promotion for his new film Good Fortune, Keanu Reeves confirmed he’d love to reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand in the upcoming sequel.
“Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again,” Reeves said when asked if he’d be open to returning to the world of Cyberpunk.
Reeves' connection to the franchise goes back to his unforgettable moment at E3 2019, when he responded to a fan’s “You’re breathtaking!” shout with his now-iconic reply: “You’re breathtaking… you’re all breathtaking!” The moment instantly went viral and cemented his status as a fan favorite in the gaming community.
But the big question remains—could Johnny Silverhand even return in Cyberpunk 2? The answer depends heavily on which ending of Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt chooses to make canon. While some storylines provide closure to Johnny and V’s journey, others leave room for creative interpretations—such as Johnny returning via digital consciousness or V embodying his persona entirely.
Some fans hope for a fresh start in the sequel, while others welcome the idea of a cameo or deeper continuation of Johnny’s story.
In May, Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith hinted at new directions for Cyberpunk 2—codenamed Project Orion—during a talk at Digital Dragons 2025, though specific details remain under wraps.
For now, one thing’s clear: Keanu Reeves is ready, if the developers decide to bring Johnny Silverhand back.
