Jason Segel has joined Angelina Jolie and Aimee Lou Wood in Anxious People, the feature adaptation of Fredrik Backman’s bestselling novel, now in production in London.
Segel, a three-time Emmy nominee known for Shrinking, joins Oscar winner Jolie and Bafta-winner Wood under the direction of Marc Forster, whose credits include A Man Called Otto and World War Z. The script comes from Oscar-nominated screenwriter David Magee.
Anxious People follows the story of Zara, an investment banker who reluctantly attends an open house on Christmas Eve. The situation takes an unexpected turn when Grace, a reluctant bank robber, inadvertently holds the group of strangers hostage.
The scenario spirals into chaos as secrets surface, identities are challenged, and nothing goes according to plan.
The project is produced by Fredrik Wikström Nicastro of Hope Studios and Renée Wolfe of 2DUX2, with Forster, Magee, and Neda Backman executive producing.
Segel continues to expand his career with both comedy and drama. Alongside Shrinking, which he co-writes and produces, he is set to appear in Jorma Taccone’s feature Over Your Dead Body.
