Rising floodwaters from the River Ravi have left swathes of Lahore's outskirts inundated, and among those directly impacted is veteran actress and singer Arifa Siddiqui, whose residence in a private housing society near Chuhang was submerged.

A video shared by Siddiqui on social media went viral, showing her home overwhelmed by muddy currents. Furniture, household items, and personal belongings were seen waterlogged as the actress and her husband tried to salvage what they could.

The footage struck a chord with the public, not only because of Siddiqui's celebrity status but also for its stark portrayal of what thousands of ordinary residents in flood-hit neighbourhoods are enduring.

According to local reports, the River Ravi breached nearby banks as water levels surged following recent monsoon downpours. Several homes in low-lying areas were inundated, with streets submerged, vehicles stranded, and property badly damaged.

Many families remain in distress, appealing to the authorities for relief measures and drainage assistance.

Siddiqui's video showed her waterlogged rooms, with once-cherished furniture reduced to ruin. The actress — who won hearts in the 1980s and 1990s through popular serials such as Sona Chandi, Dehleez and Ainak Wala Jin — appeared visibly shaken, yet resolute as she cleaned her home.

Siddiqui, born in Lahore in 1969, comes from a family deeply rooted in Pakistan's entertainment industry. Arifa became a household name for her versatile roles on PTV, known for flawless dialogue delivery, her infectious smile and musical talent.

As floodwaters linger in parts of Lahore, the story of Arifa Siddiqui and her damaged home serves as a reminder of how widespread — and deeply personal — the impact of this year's monsoon has been.
