HYDERABAD:

Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) qualified for the Champions League Twenty20 after comprehensively beating the Leicestershire Foxes by 51 runs in their qualifying match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Lendl Simmons and Adrian Barath put together T&T’s highest partnership in Twenty20 cricket before the bowlers tightened the squeeze against Leicestershire batsmen, forcing them into throwing their wickets away on a slow track. Ravi Rampaul was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets from his four overs.

Meanwhile, in an earlier fixture, Kolkata Knight Riders edged out Auckland Aces after defending a total of 121 in the sides’ first qualifier.
