In a disturbing incident in the jurisdiction of Pirwadhai Police Station, Rawalpindi, an academy principal allegedly subjected a female student to repeated sexual assault under the guise of marriage, which later resulted in pregnancy and forced abortion. Police registered a case against the accused, Academy Principal Ziaur Rehman, under Sections 376(i) (rape) and 338(a) (illegal abortion) of the Pakistan Penal Code, and apprehended him.
According to the FIR, the complainant stated that in 2023 she had taken admission in a private academy located in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed to prepare for matriculation exams. She said that in May 2025, Principal Ziaur Rehman approached her, saying he had no children and wanted to marry her. When she refused and asked him to speak with her parents, he allegedly began making excuses to get closer, offering better tuition, promising good exam results, and luring her with assurances of marriage.
The victim added that, fearing for her family's honour, she initially remained silent. However, on 21 May, he called her to the academy under the pretext of exam preparation. When she arrived, all the other students had left. Ziaur Rehman allegedly locked the doors and raped her, threatening her not to disclose the incident to anyone, while promising that he would marry her soon.
As her health deteriorated, the accused allegedly took her to a private clinic in Saddar for treatment. Later, she discovered she was pregnant and informed him. According to her statement, he gave her some medication, without telling her its nature, which caused her condition to worsen. She later realised the medicine was for abortion, and she lost the pregnancy.
Police officials said the case was registered and the suspect was apprehended in a raid. Further investigation was underway.
