Residents of Makli Headquarters are gripped with fear as packs of aggressive and diseased stray dogs have taken over several neighborhoods, attacking schoolchildren and pedestrians.
The worst-hit areas include Makli Society, Shah Latif Colony, Narejo Goth, Makli Market, Makli Workshop, Civil Hospital vicinity, Haidri Chowk, and the Makli Post Office area, where the highest concentration of dogs has been reported.
Locals say the dogs, many suffering from severe infections, have begun entering homes, posing a serious risk to life and health of the people. Recently a pack of dogs attacked a young girl, daughter of Ghulam Dastagir Mirjat, near the post office. Bystanders managed to rescue her in time, but the attack has heightened public anxiety.
Parents are now afraid to send their children to schools and colleges, fearing further attacks. Residents have urgently appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Thatta and the Chairman of the Makli Town Committee to launch an immediate dog control campaign. They warn that without swift action, the threat to public safety and health will continue to escalate.
