Rapper Young Thug is preparing to use his upcoming album, Uy Scuti, as both a personal statement and a musical response to recent controversy. The project is scheduled for release on October 17.
The Atlanta artist has faced heightened scrutiny in recent weeks after leaked footage showed him during a two-hour interrogation with Fulton County authorities, where he mentioned YSL affiliate Peewee Roscoe. The video sparked debate in the hip-hop community, with critics questioning whether Thug had broken “street code” by cooperating with investigators.
Thug has denied those claims. On August 29, he posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Let this music talk spida-,” suggesting that his upcoming work will provide clarity. His representatives also argued that the leaked clips were taken out of context and stressed that he never agreed to testify or signed paperwork implicating others.
Rather than dwell on the accusations in interviews, Thug has indicated that Uy Scuti will be the platform where he addresses not only the controversy but also broader themes. In an interview with GQ, he described the album as emotionally raw, focused on love, pain, and transformation. He revealed that his partner, singer Mariah the Scientist, contributes to a track he called especially “confessional,” offering a glimpse into his private life.
The album will also feature appearances from Lil Baby, Future, and others, positioning it as one of the year’s most anticipated hip-hop releases. It follows his 2023 project Business Is Business, which arrived during the ongoing YSL RICO trial.
Earlier this month, Thug made a surprise appearance at a back-to-school event hosted by Hosea Helps in Atlanta, underscoring his continued connection to the community. For fans and critics alike, Uy Scuti is expected to be a defining moment in his career, blending artistry with response.
