KARACHI:

A cameraman working for a private television channel has slaughtered his wife, accusing her of infidelity within the remits of Soldier Bazaar police station. The accused, Qamar Abidi, had married 37-year-old Kulsoom, daughter of Zameer Ahmed, of her own accord.

The Soldier Bazaar police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim's brother.

Police recovered the murder weapon, a knife, and linked the suspect through fingerprints and other forensic evidence found at the crime scene. The accused later confessed to the crime.

Police officials revealed that on the night between Thursday and Friday, Abidi allegedly administered sedatives to both his wife and daughter. Once they fell unconscious, he attacked Kulsoom with a sharp weapon, inflicting multiple fatal injuries. He then left for his work shift the next morning. The victim's daughter awoke late in the morning, only to discover her mother's blood-soaked body who immediately alerted neighbours.
