A seven-day polio immunisation campaign will commence on September 1 across 25 districts of Sindh. During the campaign, approximately nine million children under the age of five will be administered polio vaccine drops.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Anti-Polio Task Force chaired by Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Haider Shah and Provincial Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho.
The meeting reviewed preparations, strategies, vaccine management, and the security arrangements for polio workers.
Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah expressed concern over the rising number of polio cases in the country, revealing that 23 cases have been reported nationwide this year, with six detected in Sindh. He stressed that vaccination must be ensured under all circumstances, particularly in flood-affected and hard-to-reach areas.
