A 25-year-old man was shot dead during a robbery late Sunday night on IGP Road near Aliabad Link Road. The incident took place around 11pm when unidentified gunmen opened fire and fled, leaving the victim fatally injured.
A police official, on Monday, said the body was shifted to PIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination and later handed over to the family for burial. He added that the heirs plan to register a First Information Report (FIR) at Shams Colony Police Station after completing funeral rites.
Residents of the area, including Bilal Shabbir, a private employee, Mudassir, a land surveyor, and Muhammad Saleh, expressed deep grief and anger over the killing. They pointed out that the crime scene actually falls within the jurisdiction of Westridge Police Station and called for permanent patrolling in the area to prevent such robberies.
Legal expert Rai Usman Farooq noted that cases of theft and robbery from this locality are generally recorded at Westridge Police Station. "But when it comes to murder or other high-profile cases, jurisdiction disputes arise and the matter is often referred to Islamabad Police," he said.
