Renowned religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza was arrested by Jhelum police under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), Express News reported.
According to officials, Mirza was taken into custody from his Jhelum Academy and later shifted to jail. Sources said the arrest followed a petition filed by religious parties.
Delegations of various scholars had met the district administration on Monday, pressing for action against him.
