KARACHI:

The doctors of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), one of the largest public healthcare facility under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), protested over the non-payment of their salaries on Friday.

Dozens of doctors gathered outside the medical superintendent's office. Postgraduate doctors reported not receiving their salaries for the past month, while house officers claimed they have been without pay for three months.

Medical Superintendent (MS) of ASH, Dr Javed Iqbal, addressed the doctors. He attributed the delay in salaries of postgraduate doctors to recent public holidays, and assured them that their payments would be processed the same day (Friday).

Regarding the house officers, he explained that their salaries are typically delayed by one to two months for the completion of necessary documentation. However, he assured them that their salaries would be released within eight days.
