Unidentified armed assailants attacked a mosque in Bannu's Miryan police jurisdiction, killing a retired official after a failed abduction attempt.
According to police, the incident took place in the Noorad area where attackers stormed the Baitab Mosque during prayers. They tried to abduct retired officer Ataullah, but when he resisted, the assailants opened fire, killing him on the spot.
The firing also left the mosque's imam, his son, and another worshipper injured. Police have launched a search operation to track down the culprits.
Similarly, an alleged dacoit was killed in an encounter with police in Prowa tehsil of DI Khan on Friday, while arms and a motorcycle were recovered from his possession.
