In an incident straight out of a crime thriller, burglars looted valuables worth nearly Rs0.9 million from a house in Gulshan-e-Hadeed Phase II, while leaving behind strange drawings and signs that have left the family shaken.
According to police, the culprits carted away two bridal dresses worth Rs300,000, 25 branded embroidered suits, Rs300,000 in cash, three packed mobile phones worth Rs50,000, two smartwatches, electronic items valued at Rs50,000, artificial jewellery worth Rs150,000, a large suitcase worth Rs35,000, besides other household goods, the value of which is still being assessed.
What startled the victims most was the bizarre graffiti the burglars left behind. They reportedly drew cartoons and circles with lipstick on the walls, marked children's photographs with red signs, decorated a mirror with patterns, and even scribbled a message in English in what police described as "Bollywood style."
The complaint, lodged by Shehryar Ali, son of Sajjad Hussain, stated that the suspects broke into the third floor of his house in his family's absence. When they returned around 11pm, they found the entire floor ransacked.
Steel Town police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
