200 children among Islamabad rape victims

The interior ministry revealed on Tuesday that out of 567 sexual abuse cases registered in Islamabad between January 2021 and June 2025, 200 involved children.
Responding in writing to Senator Shahadat Awan, the ministry detailed that among the child victims, 93 were boys and 108 were girls.
A total of 222 accused were arrested in connection with these cases. However, only 12 have been convicted so far, while 163 remain under trial, 15 have been acquitted and 26 are still at large.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed the House that, "as per reports obtained from all police stations of Islamabad through (the) Zonal Superintendent of Police, during the period from January 1 2021 to 20 June 2025, (a) total 567 cases of rape were registered and 625 accused were arrested."
He added that out of 567 cases, 485 cases were challaned, 80 accused were convicted, 23 accused were acquitted and accused in 406 cases are still facing trial in the competent courts.
