Artis Impact, a newly launched indie RPG, is attracting attention for its blend of turn-based combat and slice-of-life elements, supported by distinct hand-drawn art styles.
Players take on the role of Akane, who must battle invasive artificial intelligence forces while also managing a more grounded existence in her town.
The game moves between strategic RPG battles and everyday activities such as renovating a home, running small businesses, and cooking meals. These features are designed to complement one another, allowing progress in one aspect to benefit the other.
According to its creator, solo developer Mas, the game’s varied visual approach reflects the layered gameplay experience.
“Players will notice a variety of drawing styles in Artis Impact, such as the cute small-head portraits in game dialogues, the serious, realistic comic-style during storytelling cutscenes, and the retro top-down pixel graphics used during exploration.”
While combat remains central, the game is structured to remain accessible. Boss encounters can be challenging, but players are encouraged to strengthen Akane by improving skills, training, or upgrading equipment, rather than relying solely on quick reflexes. This makes the title approachable to those who may prefer a slower-paced experience.
Outside of battle, the emphasis on exploration and role-play provides an alternative rhythm. Tasks such as earning money through quirky jobs or enhancing weapons tie directly back into the game’s progression system.
For some, this has been seen as a refreshing break from more demanding RPGs, offering a balance of intensity and relaxation.
Artis Impact is currently available on Steam and has been noted for its distinctive mix of mechanics and its creative artistic direction, positioning it as a unique entry in the indie RPG space.
