Two children of senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah were shot dead, while the cleric and his wife were critically injured in an incident allegedly involving one of his sons at their residence in Batkhela, Malakand district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Express News reported on Saturday.
According to Levies officials, the incident occurred in the Batkhela tehsil where Mufti Kifayatullah’s son allegedly opened fire inside the family home. The attack left Mufti Kifayatullah and his wife critically injured, while two of their children — a son and a daughter — died on the spot.
Levies sources added that another son and daughter of the cleric were also severely injured in the shooting and were rushed to a nearby hospital along with the deceased and other injured family members.

Officials confirmed that Mufti Kifayatullah was out of danger, though he remains under medical care. The suspected shooter, identified as his son, fled the scene following the attack.
Sources further revealed that the accused was reportedly addicted to crystal meth (commonly known as ‘ice’), which may have contributed to the violent episode.
Malakand Levies have launched a manhunt for the suspect, and an investigation is underway.
