Triple jeopardy: SHOs to answer harassment complaint

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday took a suo motu notice of registration of criminal cases against a family at three police stations and sought replies from the station house officers (SHO) concerned by October 17. Bashir Ahmad had submitted an application in the LHC Human Rights Cell complaining of police highhandedness and requested the chief justice to take notice of it. He said that he had a dispute over money with one Sarwar, who had used his influence with the police and registered three cases against the petitioner, his wife and mother-in-law at North Cantonment, Defence and CIA Kotwali police stations. He said that the police were now harassing him and his family by repeatedly raiding his house. The CJ directed the SHOs of the three police stations to submit replies by the next hearing.
