In a shocking incident, armed men stormed a roadside eatery in Matiari district and looted over Rs30 million in cash, along with mobile phones and other valuables from the hotel owner, Zulfiqar Solangi, and several traders and travelers present at the scene.
The restaurant is a travel hub where inter-city buses stop for refreshments and meals. Around a dozen robbers rode in on motorbikes openly brandishing Kalashnikov rifles and shotguns carried out the heist in broad daylight before fleeing the location.
Following the robbery, the victims, led by the hotel owner, staged a protest by blocking the National Highway with barricades, demanding immediate action from law enforcement. Protesters expressed deep frustration over the absence of police and district administration officials at the crime scene, despite the severity of the incident.
Eyewitnesses stated that the robbers threatened them at gunpoint and looted millions of rupees in cash and high-value mobile phones without any resistance.
