Two children killed to cover up affair, say police

Accused feared exposure after child witnessed compromising act

DASKA:

The police on Tuesday claimed to have solved a murder case of two minor siblings in the Bheko Chhor area of Saddar police station, revealing that the crime was committed to conceal an alleged relationship involving the children's mother.

According to a police spokesperson, District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad formed a special investigation team led by SP Investigation Usman Munir Saifi after six-year-old Umm-e-Kalsoom and three-year-old Waris went missing.

The children, whose father Kashif worked at the dera of local landlord Numbardar Yaqoob, were reported missing on Sunday.

Their bodies were discovered the next day in a nearby graveyard with signs of blunt-force trauma.

The incident sparked grief and anger in the local community.

Police launched an intensive investigation, and identified and arrested the main suspect, Malik Farooq — son of Numbardar Yaqoob.

Initial investigations revealed that Farooq had allegedly been involved with the children's mother.

On the day of the incident, the elder child reportedly witnessed them in a compromising situation.

Fearing exposure, Farooq allegedly conspired with the woman to eliminate the children. Both children were killed by blows to the head with bricks.

DPO Faisal Shahzad condemned the crime as a "shocking and barbaric act," vowing that no leniency would be shown to those involved.

He also praised professional work of the police team, whose efforts led to the rapid resolution of the case. Police have registered a case and launched further legal proceedings.
