A gunman opened fire on Monday evening at 345 Park Avenue, a high-rise in Midtown Manhattan that houses the headquarters of the NFL, Blackstone, KPMG, and other companies.

He killed four people, including an off‑duty NYPD officer working security, before fatally shooting himself on the 33rd floor.

The attacker, identified as 27 year old Shane Devon Tamura from Las Vegas, entered the building shortly before 6:30pm, carrying an M4 rifle.

Police officials confirmed he had a "documented mental health history," and investigators are exploring potential motives, including grievances linked to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Among the wounded is an NFL employee, who remains hospitalized in stable condition. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed that all other staff are accounted for and that the league is supporting the employee's family.

Goodell also announced heightened security at league offices in the coming days.

One of the deceased is Didarul Islam, an NYPD officer assigned to corporate security detail, who had served for three and a half years. He was honored posthumously by officials as having made the "ultimate sacrifice" in service.

Authorities called the incident “contained” and “neutralized” and elevated the investigation to include the FBI and other agencies.

With no definitive motive confirmed yet, the incident has sparked concern over high-profile building vulnerability and prompted major companies in the tower to review security protocols.
