
Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, SM Mahbubul Alam, visited the Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions from 24 to 27 July, 2025, meeting district officials, businesspersons, and office bearers of the Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas and Umerkot chambers of commerce and industry, promoting deeper bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The envoy highlighted the upcoming '3rd Made in Pakistan Exhibition', to be held in Bangladesh in September, and the visit of a delegation from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), comprising around 50 businessmen, in mid October.
Alam also invited a delegation from Pakistan to participate in the Dhaka International Trade Fair, to be held in January 2026.
The envoy stated that there is strong potential for Pakistan and Bangladesh to engage in joint ventures in information technology, cement industries, pharmaceuticals, chemical industries, jute industries and so forth, expressing optimism that the trade between the two countries would soon reach $1billion. Further, Alam mentioned that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh has huge potential to widen in items and commodities including textiles, mineral products, industrial machinery, sport goods, surgical instruments, and agricultural products.
