Govt school students top arts group while private school candidates lead in science

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad has announced the results of the annual matriculation examinations, with female students securing the top positions across both science and arts groups.

In the arts group, Ariba Nazir of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sarai Saleh secured first position with 1069 marks.

Anum Bibi of Government Girls High School Sarai Nemat Khan came second with 1050 marks, and Waleja Khan of Girls High School Baghar stood third with 1044 marks.

In the science group, Sidra Saeedur Rehman, daughter of the Imam of Haripur's central mosque and a student of Jinnah Jamia Public School and College Haripur, topped with 1161 marks.

Ariba Jadoon from the same institution came second with 1159 marks, while Zufshan Ahmad of Tameer-e-Watan School and College, Mansehra Chakriyal, secured third with 1158 marks.

Out of a total of 150,088 students, 101,312 passed. The success rate for 10th grade was 80 per cent, and for 9th grade, 60 per cent.

Top performers were awarded cash prizes. Rs70,000 was given for securing first place, Rs60,000 for second, and Rs50,000 for third in the science group.

Awards were distributed by Board Chairman Abdul Majid Khan and Controller Professor Babar Ayaz Abbasi during a ceremony attended by principals, teachers, parents, and students.

The chairman declared the results transparent and announced that starting in 2026, 9th and 11th-grade results will be e-marked. He also urged schools to prepare students for upcoming changes in examination formats.
