ISLAMABAD:

Rescue teams have yet to locate the bodies of a father and daughter who were swept away by floodwaters in a private housing society in Islamabad.

The search operation continued for a second day, with Pakistan Army divers and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) teams joining the efforts.

The incident occurred Tuesday morning when a vehicle carrying the victims was washed away by a flash flood inside the private housing society. On the second day of the rescue operation, personnel from the Pakistan Army, PDMA, Rescue 1122, CDA, and other departments took part.

Search teams covered a 12-kilometer stretch of the Soan River using boats and other equipment to locate the missing vehicle. The strong currents in the river and its connecting drains hampered rescue efforts.

Army divers equipped with metal detectors conducted searches from boats, while heavy machinery and searchlights were also used along the riverbank.
