Heavy monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in Upper Khanpur's Jandi village, where landslides have cut off all road access.
The affected population remains stranded without any government assistance so far.
Chaudhry Ijaz, local vice president of PML-N, told journalists via phone that torrential rains have devastated Upper Khanpur. Flash floods overwhelmed seasonal streams, destroyed protective roadside walls, and flooded homes, damaging valuable belongings.
The roof of local resident Mohammad Sajjad's house collapsed, destroying household items.
Torrential rains also caused rivers and streams to overflow, breaking bridges and disconnecting dozens of villages from Khanpur. Several people were stranded and had to be rescued through self-help.
Floodwaters in Neelan Nadi caused a severe traffic jam for several hours and swept away six power poles, cutting off electricity in the area.
The Meteorological Department has forecast another intense monsoon spell across the country, but the Khanpur administration remains limited to photo opportunities, claimed Ijaz.
Representing local residents, he appealed to the DC to urgently begin relief operations in the affected areas.
