BATTAGRAM:

Two brothers, who were students of a local seminary, lost their lives after being electrocuted in the Allai region on Tuesday. The tragedy occurred in the village of Damrai, located on the outskirts of Banah, the administrative centre of Tehsil Allai.

The victims, Mudassir and Yasir — sons of Abdul Hadi and aged approximately 14 and 11 — were returning home from their madrassah when one of them accidentally came into contact with a high-voltage electricity pole. He was fatally electrocuted on the spot.

In a desperate attempt to save his brother, the second boy rushed to help but also suffered the same fate. Both brothers died instantly.

Their bodies remained at the scene for some time until passersby alerted the family, who later arrived to recover the remains and take them home. The incident has triggered widespread grief and anger among the local community. Both residents and the bereaved family held the Allai power division (Hazara Electric Supply Company Limited) directly responsible, citing negligence and mismanagement.

Speaking to the media, the boys' elder brother, Qari Ejaz, expressed deep sorrow and frustration: "We are poor, hardworking people. We neither have the resources nor the know-how to pursue legal action. We have entrusted our case to Allah Almighty. But make no mistake — HAZECO is to blame. This isn't the first time lives have been lost due to their carelessness, yet there has been no accountability or acknowledgment of their failures."

He further lamented the erratic power supply in the region, noting that even when electricity is available, it is so poorly managed that it endangers lives.

Community members echoed these concerns, demanding a comprehensive investigation, strict action against those found responsible, and immediate financial support for the grieving family. They urged the government to take meaningful steps before more families are left to bury their children and mourn preventable tragedies.
