Overcast skies dominated Karachi on Saturday, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting thunder and rain across the city on Sunday as monsoon currents continue to penetrate Sindh, Express News reported.
According to the PMD, the city’s weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy, increasing the likelihood of rain. “There are strong chances of thunderstorm activity in Karachi on Sunday,” a spokesperson for the department said.
Meteorologists noted that strong monsoon winds are continuously entering most parts of Sindh, bringing widespread rainfall to several districts.

Heavy to moderate showers are likely in Ghotki, Khairpur, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushero Feroze, and Larkana.
In Qambar Shahdadkot, intermittent rainfall is expected, while light to moderate rain may persist in Jamshoro district through Sunday.
The PMD also warned of urban flooding in low-lying areas of rural Sindh due to continued heavy downpours. “There is a risk of damage to vulnerable structures such as mud houses, electricity poles, vehicles, and solar panels due to intense weather conditions,” the PMD alert added.
