The National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) has completed the geo-tagging of trees along a 22.5-kilometre stretch of Lahore Canal.
NESPAK Managing Director Zargham Ishaq Khan stated on Thursday that the initiative was part of the Punjab government's Lahore Yellow Line project and involved the use of technology to digitally identify and document each tree with precise geospatial coordinates and unique metadata, integrated into a centralised database.
The dataset enables localised environmental analysis and real-time monitoring, and provides a powerful decision-making tool for authorities, urban forestry experts and environmental planners.
