Three killed in traffic accidents in metro

Police reached the scene, arrested the driver, and impounded the minibus

At least three people were killed and one was seriously injured in separate road accidents in different neighbourhoods of the metropolis on Wednesday, police and rescuers said.

In the first incident, a speeding minibus struck a motorcycle near Korangi, killing a man and critically injuring his wife.

SHO Zaman Town police station Ghulam Nabi Afridi identified the deceased as 55-year-old Khaliq, and his injured wife as 45-year-old wife Sana. Rescuers drove the casualties to JPMC, where Sana is said to be in critical condition. Following the deadly crash, enraged bystanders pelted stones at the minibus, smashing its windows. Police reached the scene, arrested the driver, and impounded the minibus.

Further investigation is underway. Separately, an elderly pedestrian was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Cantt Railway Station. Edhi rescuers said the deceased, estimated to be around 60 years old, could not be immediately identified. His body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. Meanwhile, 45-year-old Ashraf was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle in DHA Phase VI. He died during treatment.
