At least 27 people have lost their lives, and 46 others have been injured in rain-related incidents over the past 24 hours, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday.

According to emergency officials, at least 12 people were killed and six others injured in three separate roof collapse incidents in Lahore overnight, while other fatalities occurred in different rain-related accidents.

Rescue 1122 teams responded to calls from Muridwal village, Mission Colony on Raiwind Road, and Kot Jamal early Wednesday morning. The collapses took place during a period of sustained rainfall across the city.

The figures highlight the growing risks posed by heavy rains, which have also caused widespread flooding and disruption in several districts.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert for heavy rains expected to continue across various parts of the province until tomorrow.

In response to the impending weather, the provincial control room and district emergency operation centres have been fully activated, with personnel monitoring the situation around the clock.

Rescue agencies, including Rescue 1122 and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), have been put on high alert, with machinery and staff placed on standby to respond quickly.

Citizens have been advised to stay away from electric poles, hanging wires, and any weak or dilapidated structures to minimise the risk of accidents. The PDMA has also urged the public to remain cautious and take necessary precautions during the adverse weather conditions.

In case of an emergency, the public can reach out to the PDMA helpline at 1129 for assistance. Rescue operations continue as the authorities work to mitigate the damage and provide assistance to those affected by the severe weather.
