Two POs among five held to avert clash

Saud Ashraf, was found wanted in a 2024 murder case registered at City Police Station Shorkot

The Vehari police carried out an operation in the Garha Mor area, preventing a clash between two groups.

Five men were arrested, two of whom turned out to be proclaimed offenders wanted for murder. Weapons including axes, machetes, and sticks were recovered.

According to sources, Garha Mor Police Station received information that two nomadic groups were armed with axes, machetes, and sticks and preparing to engage in a violent conflict. SHO Mian Irfan Ashraf reached the scene with his team, detaining five individuals on the spot.

One of the arrested suspects, Saud Ashraf, was found wanted in a 2024 murder case registered at City Police Station Shorkot, District Jhang. In that case, the victim had been savagely attacked with 28 blows from axes and machetes, and shot seven times.

Similarly, the second suspect, Bilal Nawaz, was wanted in another 2024 murder case registered at the Saddar Police Station in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Both suspects were identified as proclaimed offenders who had been on the run for several months. According to SHO Ashraf, the identities of the remaining three suspects are still being verified, as they have not provided accurate names or identification details.
