Jeff Bezos has sold over 3.3 million shares of Amazon stock, netting approximately $736.7 million, according to a recent regulatory filing reported by Bloomberg.

The sales took place in late June and coincided with Bezos’ high-profile wedding to Lauren Sanchez in Venice — an extravagant, multi-day event estimated to cost $50 million.

The stock sale was executed under a pre-scheduled 10b5-1 trading plan that Bezos adopted in March, allowing him to sell up to 25 million Amazon shares through May 2026. A similar plan initiated in early 2024 had already allowed the billionaire to sell up to 50 million shares by January.

Despite this recent transaction, Bezos remains Amazon’s largest individual shareholder, still holding around 905 million shares. Since 2002, he has sold approximately $44 billion worth of Amazon stock, with only one recorded purchase — a single share in 2022.

Bezos, who stepped down as Amazon CEO in 2021 but continues to serve as executive chair, often uses stock proceeds to fund ventures such as Blue Origin. The aerospace company recently launched a rocket into orbit, though it soon after announced notable layoffs.

Philanthropy continues to be another major outlet for Bezos’ wealth. In 2025 alone, he donated nearly 930,000 Amazon shares to undisclosed nonprofits, including reported gifts of $60 million in March, $125 million in May, and $5 million in June. Most donations benefit the Bezos Earth Fund and the Bezos Day One Fund.

As of July 2025, Bezos ranks among the world’s richest individuals, with Bloomberg estimating his net worth at $241.4 billion, while Forbes places him at $234.4 billion.
