KARACHI: In an attempt to prevent further misery for flood victims in Sindh, President Karachi Transporters Action Committee (KATC), Mohammad Ashraf Banglori demanded strict action against those who were reportedly fleecing flood victims in their efforts to move out from calamity hit areas to safer places.

In a statement on Sunday, he expressed his strong concern over reported instances of extravagant transportation fares charged by private transporters for affected people trying to reach relief camps or other safe areas. Banglori appealed to the transporters of the province to carry out transport free of charge.

He said the provincial body of the transporters will support the government in its action against transporters who have overcharged victims of the floods.
