Land grabbing: Police help recover KWSB land

KWSB MD Misbahuddin Farid told The Express Tribune that he received information about illegal activities.

KARACHI: In an operation carried out on Sunday, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) with help from the anti-encroachment cell police recovered expensive land and demolished an illegally constructed building. The KWSB managing director Misbahuddin Farid told The Express Tribune that he had received information about illegal activities on two-acres of land in block 17 Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The police was informed about it and an operation was launched against the land grabbers. “This was an expensive piece of land, worth nearly Rs800 million,” he said. The SHO Syed Muhammad Ghayyoor told The Express Tribune that on after receiving a call from SP Irfan Bahadur, the authorities raided the KDA Officers Society but the land grabbers managed to escape. “The police has taken two suspects who were present at the location into custody. However, the FIR would be registered after the initial interrogation is carried out,” he said. SP Bahadur said that the police had been taking action against the land mafia.
