Suspect ingests acid in police custody

A 25-year-old theft suspect reportedly consumed acid while in police custody, prompting his transfer to hospital for urgent medical care.

Police said Basharat Arif, a resident of 27 Chhoti Nalika Kohala, was arrested by Roshanwala police in connection with a buffalo theft case.

During his investigation, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Riasat Ali was escorting him to recovery when Basharat requested to use the restroom on the way. There, he allegedly consumed acid from a bottle.

The suspect's condition worsened, and he was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors confirmed his condition is now out of danger.

The incident quickly gained attention on social media.
