Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have ended their engagement after nearly a decade of dating. The split is reportedly amicable, with Perry feeling upset but relieved to avoid another divorce, having described her previous marriage to Russell Brand as the "worst time in her life," as per Us Weekly. While not contentious, sources close to the couple say Perry is focusing on her ongoing Lifetimes tour to stay distracted during this difficult time.
The couple, who share a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, have reportedly been living apart for several months, especially since Perry's tour began earlier this year. Although they had planned to make their Montecito home their family base, these plans have changed. Perry is currently renting out their other Montecito property, though it was previously their primary residence, as per Us Weekly.
Perry and Bloom, both in their 40s, began dating in 2016 after meeting at the Golden Globes. Their relationship progressed quickly, but they briefly split in 2017. The couple rekindled their romance in 2018, got engaged in 2019, and welcomed their daughter Daisy in 2020. However, despite their years together, they never set a wedding date, and their relationship had been under strain in recent months, as per People.
As per People, the couple's tensions were reportedly heightened by Perry’s work stress, particularly the performance of her album, which created friction between them. Extended periods of separation due to their busy professional lives also played a role in the growing distance between them.
Despite the split, both Perry and Bloom remain committed to co-parenting their daughter. Perry continues to focus on her tour, while Bloom has recently been seen attending solo events, as per Us Weekly.
