Filming for the third instalment of Netflix's Enola Holmes series faced disruption after cast and crew reportedly fell ill with food poisoning during production in Malta.

According to sources at The Sun, filming had to be paused after several team members, including lead actress Millie Bobby Brown, became unwell due to suspected catering issues.

The unexpected pause caused delays to the tightly scheduled shoot, placing additional pressure on the production team. A source said, “There were a fair few affected and it meant everything had to grind to a halt until they got better.” Thankfully, the incident was not serious and all affected individuals have since recovered.

The popular mystery film franchise, which stars Brown as Enola Holmes, the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, has been a major hit for Netflix. The first film attracted over 76 million households in its first month. Returning cast members include Henry Cavill as Sherlock, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, and Louis Partridge as Viscount Tewkesbury.

Production for the third film began this spring, with scenes shot in London and Malta. Netflix’s synopsis teases Enola being “flung into a nest of vipers” as she tackles a new mystery.

While the food poisoning setback was an unplanned interruption, fans can still look forward to the return of the beloved character once filming resumes.
