Victim falls to death from mother's lap

DIJKOT:

An eight-month-old girl died after falling from her mother's lap during a quarrel in Ghulam Muhammadabad.

The incident took place in Islampura, where a resident Irfan's wife got into a scuffle with their neighbours, including Kashif, Aamir, Arif, Bano and Iram.

During the scuffle, Irfan's eight-month-old daughter, Jannat, fell from her mother's lap and was severely injured.

She was shifted to a hospital, where she remained in critical condition and later passed away. The police took custody of the body and started legal proceedings.

According to the police, a dispute had broken out between two families the previous night. Police officials said they were carrying pursuing legal proceedings and a case would be registered against the nominated suspects.

A search for the attackers wass under way.

Constable found killed

The body of a police constable who had been missing for nearly a month was found in a canal near New Samundri Mini-Bypass.

Local officials said the victim, Naveed, had been shot in the head by unidentified assailants before his body was dumped in the water.

Constable Naveed, stationed at the Tarkhani police station, had been absent from duty since May 21, leading to a missing person report filed at the police station.

On Wednesday morning, passers-by noticed the body floating in the canal and notified the police. Upon receiving the call, Samundri city [oleic officials retrieved the body, which was transported to a local hospital for legal formalities and a post-mortem examination. The police confirmed that the victim had been shot dead.

Fatal accident

A case was registered over the death of a man and his son in a road accident.

The FIR was lodged by the father's nephew Muhammad Bilal at Thikriwala police station.

According to the complainant, his 52-year-old uncle Muhammad Rashid was riding a motorcycle with his 19-year-old son Muhammad Faizan on June 14 when a speeding truck driven by Haji Javed rammed into their bike. The truck dragged the motorcycle for a considerable distance, resulting in fatal injuries to both the victims who died on the spot.
