Lawyers boycott courts over 'new' tax

PESHAWAR:

On the call of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, lawyers across the province observed a complete boycott of court proceedings on Wednesday in protest against newly imposed taxes on the legal fraternity. As part of the protest, no lawyer appeared before the courts in Peshawar or any other district of the province.

Leaders of various bar associations, including President of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association Ameenur Rehman Yousafzai, General Secretary Ashfaq Ahmad Dawudzai, President of the Peshawar Bar Qaisar Zaman, General Secretary Zahidullah Zahid, along with senior lawyers Ishaq Ali Qazi, Babar Khan Yousafzai, Yasir Khattak, and Asif Ali Shah, strongly condemned the tax measures.
