LHC seeks proposals on shifting Tollinton Market

Justice Karim observed expressed the intention to make Tollinton Market a model for others to follow.

LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shahid Karim has sought proposals from the authorities concerned regarding shifting animals from the Tollinton Market.

Justice Karim was hearing petitions about how smog can be controlled, environment rid of pollution and groundwater protected from wastage.

As amicus curiae Izat Fatima told the court that officials of the department concerned should visit the market once a week, Justice Karim remarked that the shifting Tollinton Market to another appropriate place was under consideration.

The president of the Tollinon Market association sought permission to speak, but Justice Karim responded that he should meet the member of the Judicial Water and Environment Commission.

The court informed that the shifting was not limited to the Tollinton Market and the issue was also related to several markets in other cities.
