RAWALPINDI:

Senior PML-N leader and former senator Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmed Khan surrendered before the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court in connection with the murder case of former provincial parliamentary secretary Chaudhry Adnan.

Appearing before Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, Tanveer withdrew his pre-arrest bail application, which the court then formally disposed of. Following the withdrawal, Civil Lines Police took Chaudhry Tanveer into custody and involved him to the investigation.

Defence counsel stated that their client had voluntarily withdrawn the bail request to ensure transparency in the investigation and to fully cooperate with the police.

"Our bail was not rejected — we withdrew it ourselves to facilitate a fair inquiry. We will present all evidence proving our innocence," said the lawyer.

Chaudhry Adnan, who was a close relative of Chaudhry Tanveer, was shot dead on February 8, 2024 — three days after the general elections — near Jinnah Park Chowk in the Civil Lines area. His family lodged an FIR accusing Chaudhry Tanveer, his brother Chaudhry Changez (a member of the Cantonment Board), and his son Barrister Daniyal (a sitting MNA).
