The Dallas Wings are facing significant challenges early in the 2025 WNBA season, as they find themselves with a 1-9 record after their latest defeat by the Minnesota Lynx.
With star rookie Paige Bueckers sidelined due to illness, things are looking tough for the Wings, but there’s a silver lining emerging behind the scenes.
One of the key players on the team, DiJonai Carrington, took to a live stream with Minnesota Lynx players Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman to discuss the state of the Wings, both on and off the court.
Carrington, who was added to the roster this season, emphasized the importance of a strong locker room, especially in the face of adversity.
"I think the locker room is one of the most important things when you're building a team," Carrington shared, according to an X post.

"Even though we’re losing right now, there’s no problems in the locker room. So you're still like, 'all right, we're trying to figure it out'. It’s not like 'Ugh, I gotta go to work.'"
This positive locker room environment could be a crucial factor in the Wings' ability to turn their season around.
Despite losing two of their key players from the previous year—Satou Sabally and Natasha Howard—the Wings have been in a period of transition, adding new talent like Carrington and NaLyssa Smith while also bringing in first-year head coach Chris Koclanes.
With a strong, unified locker room, the Wings may be able to build momentum as they continue to adjust to their new lineup.
While their current record might not reflect it, Carrington’s comments suggest that the foundation is in place for a successful rebuild.
